Experience
Dr. Susan Colilla has over 15 years of research experience in both the epidemiology and human genetics of chronic diseases. She developed methods of genome-wide linkage analysis for investigating the gene-gene and gene-environment interactions for complex diseases and has investigated the role of various gene polymorphisms with increased susceptibility for breast cancer, smoking cessation, diabetes and heart disease in both traditional epidemiologic and family-based studies. Dr. Colilla has also taught seminars in both epidemiology and genetic epidemiology methods. She has consulted for pharmaceutical and industry clients in the areas of genetic markers for breast cancer, the efficacy of genome-wide association analyses for chronic disease, and tobacco harm reduction. She has developed comprehensive literature reviews, white papers, appraisals of proposed study designs and scientific manuscripts, executive summaries, and oral presentations for her clients.
Dr. Colilla obtained a PhD in epidemiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago, an MPH in epidemiology from Emory University School of Public Health and a BS in biology from Dickinson College. She also had post-doctoral training in human genetics in the Department of Human Genetics at the University of Chicago in Chicago, IL. She is founder and President of Integrative Epidemiology, LLC, a genetic epidemiology consulting company established in 2008.
